Prices benchmarked to the real market
Tyres and oil change in the UAE — a demo site for a tyre shop
Your tyres can fail an inspection while looking new.
What it is
A tyre and oil-change demo built on real UAE facts: the RTA fails tyres over five years old from the date of manufacture, 1.6 mm is the minimum tread, and worn tyres cost AED 500, four black points and a seven-day impound. Prices are calibrated so common sizes land on observed market figures.
The numbers
- RTA tyre age limit
- 5 years from manufacture
- Minimum legal tread
- 1.6 mm
- Fine for worn tyres
- AED 500 + 4 points
- ESMA heat requirement
- 50 °C
What is inside
- DOT code reader — last four digits are week and year
- Live bay board on a seeded clock, stated on screen
- The oil recommendation is a readable if/else, never called AI
In more detail
How to tell if your tyres would fail an RTA inspection
Two separate tests, and a tyre can pass one and fail the other. The sidewall reader turns the last four digits into a manufacturing week and year, then into an age to one decimal place. The tread gauge is the second test: under 3 mm it turns amber and tells you to plan a replacement, well before the 1.6 mm line where it drops below the legal minimum. The five-year rule is RTA inspection policy, not a numbered statute, and the demo says so on screen — as it does about ESMA, which separately requires tyres sold here to take 50 °C and bans storing them above 25 °C.
Why oil change intervals are shorter in the Gulf
Because a manufacturer's figure assumes a European climate. The oil table links four grades to engine types — modern Japanese and Korean petrol and hybrid engines, most European and American ones, turbocharged and heavy in-city use, and older engines past 150,000 km — and each grade carries the interval it earns rather than one blanket number for every car: 10,000 km on 0W-20 and 5W-30, 8,000 on 5W-40, 7,000 on 10W-40, against the 15,000 km a European datasheet would give. Sustained 45 °C ambient and short trips across town are what actually degrade the oil.
What a fitted tyre price includes in this market
Fitting, balancing, nitrogen and old-tyre disposal are all free with a set of four, listed line by line rather than quietly bundled, because charging for them reads as a rip-off here. The figure itself is calculated from the sidewall size and a tier — value, mid range or premium, each with the brands that sit in it — so it changes as the width, profile and rim you type change. The same three numbers also give the overall diameter, the sidewall height and the rolling circumference.
The bay board, and the words customers actually use
Four bays. Three carry a job with the time it started and the minutes left; the fourth shows Free — walk in. One seeded clock feeds all four, which is why the board can never contradict itself, and it runs at six times real time so you watch it move. Alongside it the site uses the words the customer uses: banshar for a puncture, mulkiya for the registration card, car passing for the RTA vehicle test, and tyre, not tire — this is a UK-English market.

Common questions
Is this a live shop system or a demo?
A demo. It was built for a tyre and oil-change prospect — that is why the client line on this page says prospect. Nothing in it books a real job or takes real money. The sidewall reader, the tread gauge, the oil table and the bay board all run in your browser, and the bay board says on screen that its clock is simulated.
How do I know if my tyres are too old to pass in the UAE?
Read the last four digits on the sidewall: the first two are the week, the last two the year. The demo turns that into an age in years and marks it pass or fail against the five-year line, and the tread gauge beside it is a second, separate test.
Where do the prices in the tyre finder come from?
They are calculated from the size you type rather than read off a list, and the figures were calibrated against tyre prices observed in the UAE market so common sizes land where a local shop lands.
Can you build something like this for our garage?
Yes — the same pattern fits a tyre shop, a garage or a service centre in any emirate. What it costs comes from the scope, so we quote per project: a thirty-minute call, then one fixed figure in writing with its payment stages, rather than a published price list.
